The Handicrafters’ Club is a non-political, non-profit organisation aiming to work with a variety of cultural activities and especially to support the local handicraft traditions, and promoting their passing on to the younger generations. The organisation was started on 4 December in 2003
We weave on looms, produce handicraft artefacts, and make knitwear and lots more. Seven looms are in operation all the year and the results are wonderful carpets, guest towels, table cloths and much more. Old video tapes are being recycled and turned into woven bags. We make artefacts out of cement and we make our own paper. We also published a cookery book called “Våra bästa recept” (Our best recipes). Our artefacts are for sale. All newborn babies within Brännebro School’s catchment area receive a table cloth made of linen. This is a tradition that was started in 2002, the year of Gullringen’s 100th anniversary. The baby’s name and year of birth are embroidered in the traditional pattern.
